When you have to “Put to Sleep” your Cat

Cats are home lovers, and this momentous event should be at home – in our opinion. Surrounded by familiar people and smells. Quietus Vet is a gentle and respectful alternative way for your Cat “put to sleep”.
Paul will help you with your cat at their home in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.

Quality of Life is what it’s all about

We only ever make the “put to sleep” decision for our Cats when their quality of life is not what it should be.
Illness, cancer, cognitive disorders (dementia), old age, – these are just some of the reasons for beginning to think about your cat “put to sleep”. They all impact quality of life, and we have to consider that their quality of life is no longer good enough when there are more bad days than good days.

We know that that sounds very easy: When there are more bad days than good days means we should think about putting our cat to sleep.
But we know that this will never be easy. Try to break your decision making down:

  1. Your Cat’s needs. What is their quality of life. Should they be “put to sleep” and when.
  2. Your needs: You need to be sure of number 1 first of all. This decision is never going to be easy. And our Quietus Vet visit won’t be easy either – particularly making that appointment may feel like you are signing a ‘death warrant’. But remember to think about Number 1. Think of your cat’s needs. It may help.
  3. More tests at the vets. If more tests and procedures are going to help improve your cat’s quality of life, then do them. Ask your vet if they think more tests will help your cat. Listen to what they tell you an don’t be afraid to ask the question,
“Should I put my cat to sleep?”
